The goal of this project was to upgrade the outdated website of OWARE Technologies to better convey the true message of the business, improve its online presence, and meet the evolving needs of existing clients such as Domino's, Unilever, PARCO, RedBull, and a wide range of other brands.
ROLE
Product Designer
Brand Research, Interaction, Visual design & Prototyping
Oct - Dec 2022

BACKGROUND
As a newly recruited UI designer at OWARE Technologies, I joined the project during its midpoint when it had been previously assigned to a different designer. The goal of the project was to create a streamlined business model for B2B companies to efficiently manage their supply chains through a centralized system called Warehouse Management System (WMS) - COC.
Working in collaboration with a team of professionals including a marketing lead, graphic designer, and developer, my primary responsibility was to design intuitive and effective solutions that aligned with the business requirements and catered to the needs of our target audience. This involved ideation, conceptualization, and delivery of wireframes and prototypes, while also collaborating closely with the team to ensure the final product was user-friendly and met the requirements of our clients.
THE PROCESS
As a visual designer, I was given a manual outlining the company's rules, brand guidelines and design requirements, and I found it to be an invaluable resource. The manual contained detailed guidelines on color schemes, typography, and imagery, providing a comprehensive overview of the company's visual identity. It also included instructions on how to create layouts that were aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate, ensuring that designs effectively communicated the intended message to users. By following these guidelines, I was able to create designs that were consistent with the company's branding, while also being visually engaging and user-friendly.
MOODBOARD

COMPREHENDING THE CHALLENGE
The mockups of Oware's older B2B model were created without any usability testing and did not account for technical and product limitations. As a result, they were failing to meet the needs of their clients and users. so I conducted a study to understand their brand properly and identify what was lacking in building an effective business.
My research about Oware's brand history and existing operations focused on two main areas:
- Understanding the needs of its users and major clients. This involved gathering information about the target audience and analyzing their preferences, behaviors, and pain points. By understanding what clients expect from the company, Oware can tailor its products and services to meet their needs more effectively.
- Learning about what pain points are occurring in the existing user journey. This involved analyzing the customer journey map to identify areas where customers may be experiencing challenges or frustrations. By pinpointing pain points, Oware can work to improve the customer experience and increase customer satisfaction.
KEY INSIGHTS OBTAINED FROM RESEARCH ON ITS EXISTING MODEL

CONTRASTING PREVIOUS DESIGNS WITH REVISED DESIGNS
After conducting research on the existing model and gathering all the necessary insights, the company's policy prohibits me from sharing the designs of the older website model, as they were removed once the new design was initiated. However, I can provide a high-level overview of the changes that were made on the designs created by the previous designer.

LESSONS & TAKEAWAYS
Working amidst challenges such as the company's fluctuating fortunes and the unclear vision of the team and management regarding the website production, I maintained my dedication and patience. I understood the significance of assuming responsibility for my tasks and persisting through difficulties. I had to rely on my resourcefulness to tackle the hurdles that emerged, including adhering to work schedules and meeting deadlines, adapting to the continuous changes demanded by the company head, among others. Overall, this experience presented me with significant opportunities for learning and growth.
